Where did you grow up and attend school?
I grew up in NY until we moved to Columbia, MD when I was about 6. I went to grade school and high school in Columbia.What inspired you to become a teacher?
I think it was the care and support I received from my teachers growing up. I realized how impactful teachers could be.How long have you been teaching?
This is my 24th year.What subjects/grades have you taught previously?
I've taught 7th grade to students over the course of my career with most of my time in the Upper School with grades 9-12.What do you love most about teaching?
The relationships I have developed with students and colleagues over the years.What's the most rewarding experience you've had as an educator?
Hearing from former students who remember me and my classes.

What are your hobbies outside of teaching?
I create art and I write satire.Do you have any pets?
Yes. I have a black cat named George Eliot. She's about 10 years old.What's your favorite book or type of literature?
I love all kinds of literature. Depending on my mood, I may choose fiction or nonfiction. I prefer to see plays and hear poetry performed.What kind of music do you enjoy?
I love all kinds of music. I have a soft spot for 1990s hip hop.If you weren't a teacher, what career would you have chosen?
Ideally, a writer.

Would you rather teach in a classroom underwater or in a treehouse?
Treehouse.Would you rather have the ability to read students' minds or be invisible?
Invisible. Some things, I don't want to know : )Would you rather grade papers for a week straight or give a 3-hour lecture without breaks?
Lecture. definitely.Would you rather have unlimited school supplies or unlimited coffee?
Coffee. Though I do like a good gel pen.Would you rather be able to speak every language or play every musical instrument? Speak every language.

What's the most unusual thing in your desk drawer?
I don't have a desk drawer right now, but in the past, I've had blank Valentines, seashells, and marbles. I know. Random.If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be?
Jesus.What's the most embarrassing thing that's happened to you in a classroom?
Hmmm. There have been so many. I've definitely taken a fall or two both in my classroom and on stage during assemblies.If you could instantly become an expert in any skill, what would it be?
Hmmmm. I wouldn't mind being able to complete a rubik's cube really quickly.
