Students Connect through Fantasy Football

The Upper Schoolers took part in Fantasy Football this year, helping them find new ways to get closer over the school year (Wei).

Part of the camaraderie built between students in the upper school takes place in the world of fantasy football, where pressure, strategy, and most importantly fun is shared among participants.

“I think it’s a great bonding experience for me and my friends,” Nick S. ‘24 said. “It’s always a good talking point and a way to make new friends.”

Commonly, members of a fantasy football league will gather for a draft. Whether it is in person or virtually, it is often the most fun day of a fantasy football season because students are able to build a team of their favorite players, while also outstrategizing their friends. Eduardo A. ‘24 finds the draft to be his favorite part of the league.

“The draft often depicts the story we hope to see as the season progresses, therefore, I take the draft very seriously and am always enthused to pick the guys I believe to do well,” Eduardo A. said. “It also feels good when you make a smart pick and it pays off later in the season with a championship.”

So far this season, the competition has been tremendous in many leagues, with players trying their best to win each week. Angel Q. ‘24 has had some back luck, but it doesn’t seem to bother him too much.

“I’m in last place, it’s unfortunate, but honestly it’s fun to lose with my friends,” Angel Q. said. “It’s not the outcome I want, but it’s worth it since I’m doing something with my friends. I’ve gotten to know some of the Browning boys so much better.”

Fantasy football is a yearly tradition at The Browning School, but for seniors, it’s a bit bittersweet. These guys, who’ve been participating for many years, are going to be saying their goodbyes to Browning fantasy after this NFL season.

“It’s gonna be a little weird after several years of participating in Fantasy football with my grade to stop doing it,” Lucas R. ‘22 said. “The banter and strategizing over the years has been one of my favorite memories.”

We’re almost at the playoffs now, and things couldn’t be better. The Browning boys are tightening their friendships, and learning more about strategizing and how to succeed, all thanks to football.
