Written By Ninis Twumasi and Earl Carter
As we settle into the new year in the new building, one of the most common questions students ask is, “Where are we going for lunch?” With only 30 minutes to eat, many of us end up going to the same spots every day. This article will help you discover new lunch places nearby that are quick, affordable, and worth the visit.
1. Pizza Park (66th and 1st)
Just two blocks from school, Pizza Park is one of the most convenient and popular lunch spots for students. The slices are big, cheesy, and affordable: usually between $3 and $5, they make a perfect choice for anyone on a budget. Beyond pizza, the store serves plenty of other quick bites like beef patties, chicken bakes, and garlic knots, along with a wide selection of drinks to choose from. The service is fast, so even with a short lunch period, you’ll have time to grab your food and enjoy it. What makes Pizza Park even better is its location right next to a park, giving you a nice spot to sit, relax, and catch up with friends before heading back to class.
2. Kung Fu Tea (65th and 1st)
While Kung Fu Tea isn’t exactly a lunch spot, it’s definitely worth a visit, whether you’re craving something sweet after lunch or just want to cool down after school. They have a wide selection of boba drinks, from creamy milk teas to refreshing fruit teas, so there’s something for everyone. The owner is always friendly and takes the time to ask about your day, which makes the experience even better. The drinks are high quality and totally worth the price, especially if you join their app rewards program, where you can earn a free tea after a few visits. Kung Fu Tea also comes highly recommended by the JV soccer team, who often stop by for their pre-match drinks.
3. Panda Express (68th & 2nd)
Panda Express is a go-to spot if you’re looking for a quick, tasty meal that hits the spot. Whether you’re grabbing lunch between classes or dinner on the way home, their menu has something for everyone, from classic Orange Chicken to healthier options like steamed veggies and grilled teriyaki bowls. The staff are usually friendly and fast, making it easy to grab your food without a long wait. The portions are generous and the flavors are consistently satisfying, making it a solid choice for both solo meals and group hangouts. Additionally, their rewards program allows you to earn points toward free entrées, making it even more appealing for regular visitors. Panda Express comes highly recommended by students and athletes alike, who love stopping by for a quick, energy-boosting meal before practice or games.
4. Greek Eats (66th and 1st)
Not far from Browning, Greek Eats offers a wide variety of flavorful and affordable options that make it a great lunch spot. You can grab small appetizers like spinach pies, Greek meatballs, and fries, or go for a heartier meal with traditional Greek dishes such as skewers, pitas, and customizable bowls. The menu has flavors for every taste, whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, spicy, or savory. Prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous, making it easy to find a filling and delicious meal without spending too much. When asked by people who tried it they said that they loved it and went twice this week.
Lightning Rounds Fast Food
Even though there are plenty of great places to eat nearby, sometimes you just need something quick and cheap. Luckily, several fast-food spots around the area are perfect when you’re tight on time or money. You can grab a bite from McDonald’s (69th and 1st), pick up a drink at Starbucks (69th and 1st), or stop by Dunkin’ Donuts and Bagel Works (66th and 1st) for a quick breakfast-style lunch. If you’re looking for something a bit fresher, Lenwich (68th and 1st) and Just Salad (70th and 1st) are great options too. No matter what you’re craving, one of these spots is sure to fit your needs.
