Ethan F. '23 entertains and lip-syncs in one of the many Tiktok trends. In the past few months, students have become passionate about creating content while trying to amuse their followers.
TikTok has inspired several students at Browning to keep their followers entertained during these stressful times.
With people mandated by their governments to quarantine, TikTok’s usage has surged in popularity. Users from all across the world, including students at Browning, have kept others distracted from the global pandemic by posting videos and following up on the latest trends.
“Currently, my main goal is to help my viewers, friends, and myself as much as I can,” Ethan F. ’23 said. “By performing comedic skits and spreading awareness, I am trying my best to ease the anxiety.”
With over 300,000 followers, Ethan has the largest following out of any Browning student. By dancing, lip-syncing, and creating skits, he has found a passion for creating content and a possible career through the social media platform.
“I want to help make a difference in this world,” Ethan said. “It is a perfect opportunity to do so with something that I love.”
Many influencers and content creators have been taking advantage of their large followings to spread their message and educate others. JuFu, a rapper who is managed by a Browning alumnus and parent Ali Theodore ’88, was brought in by the Browning community to share his story with the middle school students.
During an assembly, JuFu showcased his expressive techniques, shared what inspired him as a musician, and encouraged Browning students to express themselves. Since the pandemic, Jufu has been donating money to various groups impacted by COVID-19 and also started a video series where followers can meet him virtually. Just like he did with the middle school students, Jufu has been spreading positivity to his millions of followers and talking about pushing the boundaries no matter what the circumstances are.
From celebrities to students within the Browning community, TikTokers are finding ways to better the world and the people around them during this pandemic by lifting people's spirits during this time of abnormality.
