This past fall, the Upper School transitioned to a hybrid schooling model; some feel that adjustments made since the spring like transitioning to Canvas have allowed for learning to be easier, but many are still adjusting to online learning.

Whether from the building or a computer screen, the Browning administration has successfully dealt with the challenge of running a school during a global pandemic, but there are many obstacles for the remainder of the school year. As of now, the administration’s intention is to remain in hybrid learning.

In these episodes, Benjamin L. ‘24 and Matthew B. ‘23 have a thoughtful discussion about the recent weeks in football, basketball, and hockey. They are joined by Alexander R. ‘21 to discuss the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s recent contract extension.

Imagine if a game, which was made two years ago, and was about to be deleted by the creators, suddenly became one of the best games of the year. Among Us is a murder mystery game made by an American game company named InnerSloth. The game suddenly became popular recently through gamers playing on Twitch and YouTube.

In this episode, Benjamin L. ‘24 sits down with new Latin teacher Ian Hochberg to discuss topics ranging from teaching during BrowningFlex to some of the best things New York City has to offer.

The ZOO Podcast has released a new sports branch hosted by Benjamin L. ‘24 and Matthew B. ‘23. The two discuss professional sports, while also giving some hot takes. Enjoy the first three episodes of this series below.

In a normal year, it is common to introduce the new Browning faculty at a school assembly. Due to COVID-19, this could not take place. The Grytte asked our new members the following two questions so that the community can get to know them better:

Who would have thought that a professional sports team could pull off a championship run in the middle of a pandemic? Just a few months ago, the sports world could never have imagined those words. The NHL introduced, along with other sports organizations, the bubble format, which was enjoyed by sports fans at Browning.

Comedian Sam Morril ’05 is rising to fame. In February 2020, his second Comedy Central stand-up special “I Got This” debuted, where it has since received more than 4.5 million views on YouTube. A momentous achievement for him, Morril says this is just the beginning and that there is much more content to come.

The Grytte won first place with special merit, the highest award possible, in the American Scholastic Press Association’s 2019-2020 contest for school newspapers.

While physical gatherings for the Interschool community have not occurred while schools have been closed, many have been able to stay connected online.

On May 25, 2020, George Floyd died in Minneapolis, Minnesota while being arrested by the police. This incident sparked weeks of protests in major cities across America against the killing of George Floyd, police brutality, and systemic racism in American society.

As I approach graduation and my final days as a student at Browning, I have been nostalgic and have been tracing out all of the important things, groups, and people that have shaped my experience for the last decade.

In a sea of blue and white, the Panthers entered the Columbia Lion’s den. It was in the third quarter when the ball was thrown down the court. The ball started left but was passed to the right to the open player. He releases the trigger almost immediately and swooshes. The Columbia fans go quiet, but the Panthers roar loud in support of Alex L. ’20 and his 2,000th point.
